Gundua’s Health Centre is about to open thanks to generous contributions from ApotekHjärtat. We will be fully equipped to conduct all conceivable tests, fix teeth, give HIV advice, distribute medicine via our own pharmacy and even undertake minor surgery in emergency situations.
The Centre opens officially April 2. Already this week we will be able to conduct some hundred vaccinations and to start parental groups with the help of volunteers who have arrived. We can already see the need for advice and care from neighbouring villages. We will make a real difference here offering increased life expectancy for many people.
You can get an image of what’s happening in the photos below. At the same time that deliveries of equipment and materials are arriving, we are busy with team-building efforts as well as installing the stand-by power generation engine.Later today we will have “real” electricity and on Monday Internet connection…we hope. This is Africa, but many have contributed with both time and resources to make sure we are ready on April 2, so it will work.
