Ex-Lewa is situated at 2,500 above sea level meters in Northern Kenya, about 200 km north of Nairobi. The area has around 10,000 inhabitants. It is a fertile but poor area, even from a local standpoint, and it is dominated by agriculture.

Gundua Primary School, Gundua Secondary School and Gundua Health Centre are located just outside the village. During 2012, Gundua Vocational School will be constructed.
