About Kenya

Kenya is situated just south of the Horn of Africa, surrounded by Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and the Indian Ocean. The country has the strongest economy in East Africa. Everything is relative, however; 45 percent of the population are estimated to live below the national poverty level. Kenya has about 39 million inhabitants and was a British colony until 1963. English and Swahili are the official languages, in addition to many local languages.
